Slip sliding along

We decided today would be a good day to take a trip to town. It is about 100 km to town and the first 50 is on a backroad. It wasn’t too bad going in this morning, although a little slippery in spots. We saw a lynx crossing the road and were careful in case her kitten was around. You don’t want to brake hard on ice.

When we got to the main highway the road was almost clear and the sun was shining, so we felt that we had made the right decision to venture out. We have had such bad weather that we have been housebound for a while. Most of British Columibia has had really bad weather recently.

We set out for home about 1:30pm and when we turned off the main highway onto our road we saw that the ice had gone slushy with patches of ice. It was deadly, we crawled, always on the alert for moose who like to lick the salt from the road. We did not see much wildlife which is probably a good thing. We saw one vehicle in the ditch, the occupants must have abandoneded it.

It took over an hour before we pulled into our carport. My husband gave a heartfelt prayer of thanks that we were safely home and I think I will hunker down and wait for spring.

  1. Hey there. Greetings from Yreka, California. Very, very nice blog. How in the world do you get the picture wrap aropund effect? That’s great.

It’s just started getting cold here at my house. Won’t be as bad as where you are, but I have had doors frozen shut a couple times so far this winter.

I have added a link to your blog on mine. I’d appreciate it if you’d take a look at what I’ve done. If you like it maybe you can add a link to it on your site.

I have been to BC twice in my life, both times to go fishing. Once was in saltwater and once inland near 100 mile house. It was great each time. One of these days I’ll get back up that way. Again, great blog and I will be back often. Thanks.

  2. Bravo Ponderer ….. Like it says at Technorati :

” 55 million blogs, some of them have to be good “

    Very nice job.
